Sigma Networks was established in 1997 as a voice and data infrastructure company. Our main area of operation was structured data cabling, and we quickly achieved approved Installer status with several leading manufacturers, as well as becoming strategic cabling partners for a range of blue chip network operators and communications companies.
As communications technology evolved, and traditional voice cabling became obsolete, we began to specialise in fibre-optics and the new Category 6 structured cabling standard. We also began to offer network design and project management to our portfolio of services, and became involved in major building refurbishments and communications infrastructure projects.
As part of these projects, we were regularly asked to undertake electrical installation work. Initially, this was sub-contracted to strategic partners, but we always had the sense that we could do it better ourselves - so that's exactly what we did.
An Established Electrical Contractor
Sigma Networks is now an established electrical contracting company, with full NIC/EIC accreditation, and an established list of regular customers. Other services were added to our considerable list of capabilities, such as inter-building free-space optical laser links and wireless networking products.
The convergence of diverse technologies onto an IP-based platform has enabled us to considerably add to our range of services over the last 5 years. CCTV was one of the first new areas we encompassed back in 2003, as new digital PC-based systems and DVRs replaced VCR-based analogue systems.
As a sub-contractor of Balfour Beatty, Sigma Networks was responsible for centralising almost 30 signalling systems into a single data centre. This included construction of the cabling infrastructure and fabrication of metal carriers.
We now have approved Installer status with several leading manufacturers, and the continued development of IP CCTV means we remain at the forefront of the digital surveillance industry.
A Growing Product Portfolio
As a natural progression from CCTV, we introduced access control into our portfolio in 2005, allowing us to offer integrated surveillance and access solutions. As a recommended installer of Paxton Access® systems, we offer one of the UK's best-of-breed solutions.
In recent years, we have come full circle and returned to our voice communication roots, with the addition of several VoIP solutions, including an innovative hosted telephony offering, which completely negates the need for up-front capital expenditure, replacing it with a fixed monthly charge.
Our ongoing commitment is to offer products and services that allow our customers to maximise the benefits that new technology offers, whilst ensuring they deal with a professional, reliable partner.
