Hampton Court Palace
Background
The Royal School of Needlework recently expanded its teaching area within Hampton Court Palace adding classrooms, an office, library
and an IT room.
Project Outline
Sigma Networks worked closely with the Royal School of Needlework to oversee the installation of a fibre optic backbone and voice
multicore cabling between the existing and new rooms on opposite sides of the Palace.
As part of the project a comprehensive Category 5E structured network was installed.
Customer Comments...
Sigma demonstrated a high level of professionalism, care and sensitivity both during the project planning stages and throughout
the installation, working closely with Julia Grinham in the Surveyors department of Historic Royal Palaces to protect and safeguard
the integrity of this listed monument.

Dixons Stores Group
Background
DSGi is the UK's leading electrical retailer, with Currys and PC World stores in the High Street and Dixons.co.uk on the internet.
Project Outline
In December 2009, DSGi built an extensive TV, PC and laptop repair centre within their main nationwide distribution centre in
Newark, Nottinghamshire.
The project involved the installation of over 1,000 Category 5e data outlets and 600 TV aerial sockets to serve the new repair
workbenches. In addition, we created a brand new Comms Room, served by fibre-optic and voice multicore backbone cabling.
The building's TV distribution system had to be completely redesigned to support the new requirement, and the internal data network
reconfigured to accommodate the new Comms Room. Despite a lengthy planning and design stage, the installation timescales were extremely
short, as the repair centre needed to be up and running prior to DSGi’s peak repair period in January.
Our 12-strong installation team work weekend and night shifts in order to ensure the project was completed on time and within budget.

Perse School for Girls
Background
Sigma have been working in partnership with Perse in Cambridge since 2003.
Project Outline
In March 2010, we were asked to relocate and upgrade the Free Space Optics laser that links the data networks between the
Main Upper School and the Junior School, located several streets away. The existing link was a 100Mbit unit, but the school
wanted to establish a Gigaspeed (1,000 Mbit) connection.
The faster units were much larger and heavier than the existing lasers, so some innovative thinking was required to ensure the
mountings were robust and secure enough. Fibre-optic cabling was required to feed the new equipment, which also required a
mains power feed.
Customer Comments...
Engineers from Sigma’s data, fibre and electrical divisions ensured that the project was completed during the Easter break, ready
for the pupil’s return at the start of the term.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club
Background
Sigma Networks has undertaken several large cabling projects at Spurs, including the refurbishment of the
West Stand offices, and the new Club Shop. In all cases, timescales were tight, with strict specifications
on materials.
Project Outline
We needed to install cabling within very busy site environments, as a wide range of trades were working at
the same time. We also needed to project manage these jobs very carefully, as extensive liaison with BT
and other network providers was essential to ensure that there was no loss of service to the club during
the project.
We were also asked to provide temporary solutions during the project, so that the club was able to
function as normally as possible during the refurbishments. This required a high level of flexibility,
and some quick thinking, as we were sometimes called upon at very short notice.
Customer Comments...
Sigma Networks are now our preferred choice for all our internal data cabling – the service we have received
from them has always been exemplary.

Greenbank Hotel Cornwall
Background
This project was undertaken in the spring of 1999. Although the hotel was being refurbished, parts were
still open to guests. Our task was to completely renew the voice cabling within the hotel, from each of
the 87 guest rooms and numerous offices, back to a newly-created Comms Room in the basement.
Project Outline
The challenge here was to complete the installation, whilst remaining as unobtrusive as possible. Half the
hotel was effectively a building site, with many trades all working simultaneously, the other half was
occupied by guests. A flexible approach was essential, as there were major restrictions on access and the
use of power tools. The job was also subject to tight timescales, as the work needed to be completed prior
to the start of the summer season.
Sigma Networks completed the task a full two weeks ahead of schedule and within budget.
Customer Comments...
The engineers from Sigma were a delight to work with. We had to impose tight restrictions on working
practices to ensure our guests were disturbed as little as possible by the building work going on around
them. The engineers from Sigma stood head and shoulders above the contractors we had on site in terms of
flexibility, politeness and a generally helpful attitude.
